Mac OS X say

TL;DR

say helps you… say stuff from the command line in Mac OS X.

So I also wanted to get an audio clue about when my [Flaky internet connection][] monitor gets a noteworthy event - i.e. when the connection goes down, or when it gets up again.

This time I discovered say, which:

Convert text to audible speech. This tool uses the Speech Synthesis manager to convert input text to audible speech and either play it through the sound output device chosen in System Preferences or save it to an AIFF file.

As this whole internet thing is… upsetting me a bit, I’ll spare you with the (Italian) text I’m using when the internet connection goes down 🙄, but at least it says e vai! (like yay!) when it goes up again 😅

Stay safe and… say something!

Fun (annoying) fact: I heard both messages while writing this post… 🤦‍♂️
